EAT MO' GREENS

The organizing committee of the 12th Annual 2021 & Second East Coast/West Coast Virtual Collard Greens Cultural Festival invites you to mark your calendar to join us on Saturday, September 25, 2020 via Zoom broadcast from Atlanta, Ga. We want to make sure that you tell your friends and family that they don’t want to miss a moment of the mouth watering, hot water corn bread dripping food, live music from soul stirring Gospel to soothing Jazz, Arts & Crafts marketplace, Wellness and Sustainability pavilion, Children’s Sproutland and Edutainment being planned for this day-long virtual celebration.

New! On Sunday, we will have our drive-by/pick-up your collard green dinners, ice cream (only 60 pints available - limited one per family as long as they last), memorabilia T-shirts, embroidery hats, aprons, and masks (purchased through Eventbrite) and samples of the cook-off entries for the "people's vote" online. First prize is $500

Why a Collard Greens Cultural Festival? As a community, in many ways we have always lived green. Our food is an expression of our love. Today, we must learn to take favorites like collards and prepare than in ways that are healthier. Our King and Queen Collard Green Cook-off” for the man and woman who can cook the best greens in Georgia is a fun, creative way to inspire everyone to eat healthier.

What makes this festival different? It is all in the greens -- an exciting platform on which to build a better awareness about overall wellness. We plan to feed not only the senses and body with good food and music, but also feed the soul. Be prepared to feast on our vegetarian collard green dinners (greens, yams, black-eye peas, collard green muffins) and don't forget to leave room for the piece de resistance, collard green ice cream!

Zoom attendees will be able to learn from some of the best alternative healers in Georgia with our on-line Wellness Pavilion. Our on-line Sustainability Pavilion will feature steps for Self-Sufficiency, what is food, what to grow and the various types of gardening (i.e., tower gardens, high tunnels, aquaponics, hydroponics, key hole gardening, etc.), vegetarian food demos, composting, recycling, and much more.

We are talking about more than just your Mother’s cooking. In addition, there will be a Collard Green King and Queen Cook-off for the persons who can cook the meanest greens, a vegetarian cooking demonstration It is simple, you will leave wanting to “Eat Mo’ Greens!”
